Running & Running

Farmington Days Run on Saturday!

One of us did the 5K and one of us did the Half Marathon. Can you guess which one I did?
I actually did more of a 5K walk than a run, but I beat my time from last year by over 2 minutes.
Ken did well in the Half Marathon, finishing in 2:07, and getting 3rd place for his age group. Notice the medals in his after race photo.

In the background of these running photos is the new Farmington City Hall. For all of you who are former Farmingtonites, what do you think of this new building??

Later in the day, we got a personal tour of the new city hall from no less than the actual Mayor of Farmington. He had lots of excuses - or should I say reasons - for the unattractive mismatched architecture that does not match the normal Farmington style. It was interesting to hear other Farmington residents' comments on the building. Apparently, they share my low opinion of the new look.

Update on a totally different subject: My pseudo-retirement is over for a while. I start a new job tomorrow as a Consumer Compliance Specialist with the Federal Reserve Bank. They made me an offer I couldn't refuse. I'll be posting updates on this new adventure soon.

4th of July - Part II

On the 4th of July we had a picnic dinner with the kids and fireworks in the park. On the 5th of July there was more fun at Kevin's house with swimming, a BBQ, and trying out the firepit by making smores. If they're this messy, they must be fun!!

4th of July - Part I

After about a month in Utah, it's fun to be back in Tucson for a week at 4th of July. Here are some highlights of the past few days.

It's always fun to have the kids at our house to play. Even more fun now that they only live 2 minutes away by car. Sadly, after about 7:00 AM, it's too hot to walk the 8 minutes on the path this time of year.

For a change from the heat, we drove about 45 minutes up to Mt. Lemmon with Ryan and Ashley. Yes, we even got this little white box of fudge at the General Store! Delicious!

Another way to cool off is in the pool.

Kevin demonstrates a fun and exciting way to get into the water.

Baby L is now smiling and laughing. So cute!

Here's a new way to watch TV.

And we haven't even gotten to the fireworks yet!!
