Belgian Waffle

I have done some more painting at the Tucson house.
This time in the kitchen and dining area.

The paint color is called "Belgian Waffle" which sounds perfectly delicious for a kitchen. It appeared on the sample to be a golden brown. However, now that it's there, it seems a little too yellow to me. I think it looks like one of those "Tuscany" colors, which is fine, but not really what I had in mind. Also, look at the color above the cabinets. It looks much more orange than the color below the cabinets and I swear it's the same color from the same paint can.
How does this happen?

I think I can live with this, but I need ideas on what to put on top of the cabinets to soften the yellow color and NOT emphasize it. With the 10-foot ceilings there is plenty of room. I'm not really into any frilly flowery type stuff. Any ideas? What would you put there?

I think that plants and flowers above the cabinets is a little bit dated. Maybe some beautiful pottery or art glass. If you want to make it feel more brown than yellow, maybe some brown/coppery pieces mixed with one other bold color (I love blue glass, but I have no idea how it would look with the paint). Your kitchen looks great - good luck making it just what you want.

I think that you should put models of different cars up there....it would really add to the feeling of the room. What kitchen wouldn't look better with a series of Ferraris or perhaps a tribute to all the cars you have owned. It could start with the Malibu and go from there. I think it could work....

I got a car comment on a blog about paint in the kitchen? OK...I'm just happy to get any comment from Kevin. Keep 'em coming! BTW, I promise to do another car quiz blog soon. Too bad I have never owned a Ferrari, but I'm impressed you remembered about the Malibu.

It looks different because of the lighting- But I really like it. Stay away from the blues and purples because they are the complimentary colors and will emphasize the yellow. Stick with browns, rust, blacks -basically neutrals. I was also going to suggest pottery, a black old bird cage, iron decor...
